Mission and Vision

Mission

Our mission is to expand and improve after-school, summer, and other expanded learning opportunities for the youth of Providence by organizing a sustainable public/private system that contributes to student success and serves as a national model.

Vision

Our vision is that all youth experience a range of quality after-school, summer, and other expanded learning opportunities that promote their intellectual, creative, and healthy development.

This requires the public and private sectors to work together to create full-day, year-round programming that integrates academic, social-emotional development, and physical health opportunities for every child, from first grade through high school, from when they wake up until they go to sleep.

An essential component of this vision is to integrate and knit together Providence’s public and private educational and after school programs in a seamless way that avoids duplication and fragmentation, and supports every youth to the city’s fullest capacity.

We believe that youth participation in after-school activities on a consistent basis will benefit them socially, emotionally, physically and academically. When young people have easy access to a wide variety of fulfilling activities and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with peers and adults, they are more likely to attend school, earn good grades, have a positive self-image, avoid harmful behaviors and become equipped with the 21st-century skills required for them to be productive citizens.
