High-quality after-school programming is the answer to these concerns. After-school programming:

• Makes academics relevant and complements in-school learning
• Keeps youth engaged in a seamless day of learning, even after the bell rings
• Connects youth with caring adults invested in their achievement 
• Allows youth to learn about real-life skills and careers

Here in Providence, there is a free and engaging array of coordinated after-school activities for middle school youth – the AfterZone. The AfterZone is a network of “neighborhood campuses” of after-school activity that operate from 2:30-5:15pm. All middle school students – whether they attend public, private or parochial schools – are eligible to attend AfterZone programs.
