The Hub
The Hub is a centralized space that acts as an incubator for a wide array of youth outreach programs, youth organizing, and services. Its location at 140 Broadway, media lab and website, and its youth-driven staff makes it an ideal venue for youth forums, a site for youth services, and demonstration projects—such as the credit-bearing website design course that students from a local high school participated in.
The Hub is an open, safe and affirming public space that acts as a gateway to connect Providence youth and to the wide array of opportunity providers that already exist throughout the city, as well as a space that helps to seed and host new youth-focused programs.
When youth come to the Hub, they can access the internet in the media lab, receive guidance from staff, and a range of trainings and information sessions. As a growing expanded learning system, a program space, and a web tool, the Hub connects Providence youth to opportunities throughout the city, hosts new programs, and builds policies and processes with the School Department that provide course credit for expanded learning opportunities that occur after school.
