High School Expanded Learning

Two years ago, a Nellie Mae Foundation grant, facilitated by RIASPA, prompted the Hub policy team to work with the Providence Public School Department to create a credit policy and model for expanded learning opportunities in Providence. After a year and a half planning process involving Hub staff, school district personnel and school faculty, students and community partners, the school credit policy work is well developed.

The Hub worked with the Providence School District’s Director of Secondary Schools and a team consisting of the principal, faculty and students from the Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex, as well as a team of community after-school partners, to develop an expanded learning opportunities credit policy and model of practice for high school youth.
