COLLABORATIVE FOR BUILDING AFTER-SCHOOL SYSTEMS (CBASS)
PASA is part of collaborative effort among six after-school intermediary organizations to make after-school part of the system of essential services that support children and youth. Launched in July 2006, CBASS is working to change policy and integrate after-school into broader education reform efforts, and to increase the resources devoted to after-school programs. In addition to PASA, the CBASS partners include:
After School Matters
Baltimore's Safe and Sound Campaign
The After-School Institute
Boston After School and Beyond
The DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation
The After-School Corporation
Prime Time Palm Beach County
Bay Area Partnership for Children and Youth
CBASS recently published Frontiers in Urban Science Exploration Resource Guide, which offers strategies to advance informal science education in after-school.
A policy brief, Speaking in One Voice, from the Forum for Youth Investment highlights the work of PASA and its CBASS partners. The commentary addresses the need to develop and adopt common youth-, program- and system-level measures that are easy and cost-effective for local after-school systems to implement. PASA is highlighted in the "On the Ground" segment of the brief.
