Statewide Partnerships
Through partnerships with the Rhode Island After School Plus Alliance and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers initiative, PASA’s quality improvement work has reached providers statewide.
21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC)
The 21st CCLC is a national program that provides expanded enrichment opportunities to children attending low-performing schools. It provides funding to communities through a competitive proposal process and is administratively run by State Government. In 2007, the 21st CCLC initiative adopted the Rhode Island Program Quality Assessment tool (RIPQA) as a required tool for all 55 sites, and contracted with PASA to oversee the process.
Rhode Island Afterschool Plus Alliance (RIASPA)
The Rhode Island Afterschool Plus Alliance is a statewide advocacy and mobilization organization whose mission is to affect public policy to expand and support high-quality after-school programming.
RIASPA is a critical partner and supporter of PASA, particularly in our efforts to scale quality improvements, advocacy and policy work statewide. RIASPA has worked hand in hand with PASA to disseminate the quality standards and RIPQA statewide. As a result of our partnership, Rhode Island, through the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality, is one of thirteen nationwide communities now part of Ready by 21 Quality Counts initiative. These communities have committed to improving the quality and reach of community programs for youth by using Ready by 21 tools and technical assistance.
