Site Management Agencies
PASA’s strategic vision is to foster community ownership of the AfterZone and to collaborate on after-school operational activities by transitioning ownership of the school-level functions to community site management agencies.
This allows PASA to scale back involvement in the day-to-day management of the AfterZone and focus on providing technical assistance, linking systems and common practices, as well as securing resources to ensure long-term sustainability of the model. Responsibility for programming and operations is then shifted to a high-quality, high-capacity organization. To support AfterZone operations, these site management agencies receive considerable funding through 21st Century Community Learning Center grants from the Rhode Island Department of Education and other resources gathered by PASA.

John Hope Settlement House – DelSesto Middle School
The John Hope Settlement House has been serving the Providence community for almost a century. Their key values of care and development of children and youth, family support and capacity building to help people fulfill their personal potential, serve as the perfect complement to PASA’s own mission.
Providence Housing Authority – Esek Hopkins Middle School
The Providence Housing Authority was created in 1939 to provide safe, affordable housing to the Providence Community, addressing the economic and social needs of residents. Today, the PHA’s services extend beyond housing, as they are involved in a number of services to improve the social needs of residents.
West End Community Center – Gilbert Stuart Middle School
The West End Community Center offers a host of support services to the Providence community: young parents support services, a food pantry, ESL, counseling, enhanced GED/High School Equivalency and elder services. They adhere to quality standards and indicators that are steeped in the youth development practices developed by PASA, thus making our partnership a natural one.
