City Year Rhode Island is a critical PASA partner. City Year works together with the Providence Public School District, middle school teachers and principals, PASA, and over 70 after-school providers to serve as a bridge between the learning that takes place during the school day and after-school hours. City Year volunteers work full-time in three middle schools and half-day in one additional school to mentor and tutor at-risk youth in the classroom. They then help run project-based after-school programming as part of the AfterZone model, which serves almost 40% of the city’s middle school youth.
