The Hub is a citywide approach to building sustainable, high-quality expanded learning and out-of-school opportunities for high school-aged youth in Providence. It is open to any high school-aged youth, 5 days a week and acts as a gateway to connect young people to the wide array of opportunity providers that exist throughout the city. The Hub provides youth with Internet access, guidance from staff, internship opportunities, and a range of trainings and information sessions.
The Hub also participated in a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority(RIPTA) working group and was responsible for bringing a new cadre of 4 community youth groups to RIPTA that are now working on a Transportation for Education Initiative.
One of those groups was Hub community partner, Youth 4 Change. Y4C made this video to shed light on the role affordable transportation plays in increasing student barriers to attending school.
